PID

My husband is suffering from back pain. In medical (short) term they call it PID. I don't know what exactly PID means but from my googalation (is there such a word?!) I found few articles on PID. I'm pretty sure i got it right, it's actually mean "Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc". It has got something to do with the intervertebral disc, maybe caused by lifting heavy stuff at work. I think this is what people mistakenly called it "slipped disc". I'm not a doctor or medical practitioner so I can't comment much.

So I finally found the medical definition here

He needs to go for physio every now and then. Poor hubby :'(

Spider Web

It has been nearly a year since my last post. Wow. I can’t (read: refuse) to believe it. So many things happened for the past year. I’m gonna list down ten things had (could) happened in a year:

  1. I got upgraded at work. Here where I work, it’s such a big deal if your grade increases within 2 years of employment. I met more people and deal with more complicated matters, as compare to the previous year.

  2. We finally got our house renovated – we did the laminated flooring, repainting and installed kitchen cabinets. Overall I’m satisfied with the works done but due to over budget, we did not change the windows, which was supposed to be done simultaneously.

  3. I baked. Seriously. I baked cheesecakes, how cool is that? I never bake. I failed each and every time I tried to put the cake batter in the oven. The joyous victory of all was my blueberry cheesecake I baked for my nephew’s birthday last December. And I occasionally bake brownies at home, using my toaster oven. Iqbal and Omar love eating them.

  4. I travelled twice last year. I went to Iran for my first business trip in June and Tokyo in September. I’m replacing my friend Seri who has left for Singapore, so I’m the new IP babe for Iran project. I work with my other sista, Caz. My Iran trip was such an experience. We went to meet our Iranian lawyer for few matters and went to buy shawls at Punak Sq. The shawls are so nice and kinda cheap. It was summer so the shawls were nicer compare to any other seasons. More colorful, Caz told me. We had trouble with communication connection because there was sanction by the EU during our stay there so internet and phone connection were limited. It was kinda scary because we can’t call home and emails were blocked, so did the cable TV. We had to watch the World Cup in Persian without knowing which teams are playing at that time.

  5. My brother got a new job at Sime Darby, after giving up his shitty job at ME.

  6. My parents went to Mekah again to perform Hajj for the second time.

  7. Met people from around the world from my training in Japan. It was such an experience for me. I will blog about this later.

  8. Gained more weight, instead of losing some. Sigh.

  9. Earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I list this down because it was so bad and such a terrible natural disaster after the great 2004 tsunami.

  10. Iqbal turned two. Yeay!

I’ll try to keep updating this spider web and try to post more photos as possible to make it more ‘interesting’.

En. Omar

Omar's my husband. He's not rich, never been rich. But his kindness captured my attention.

I always whinge when it comes to money. On how hard to save and at the same time letting the idea of buying my fav things due to my financial position. He keeps on reminding how lucky we are that we don't have to rent our house, travel far to our workplace etc. Come to think of what he says, I believe he's right. So, there we are, with our wish list waiting for it to be realised.

Last week, after 7 months of patiently waiting, we finally got our property re-financed. It helluva long process and obstacles in between. We plan to fix our tiny place. Soon the wak will come and buat apa yg patut. I just don't know what to do with our stuff... Mostly our wedding gifts. I've been thinking to sell off the ones with duplicates. But when I think of it, it's not proper to sell off, people gave them as my wedding present. Tapi kalau dah toaster ada 4 and jug kettle/water heater ada 5 would I use all of them? And of course I would only use whichever I think the best among all, right? I could sell them off and get some money to buy new stuff for our home. Hmmm. That's why registering your wedding gifts is important, actually but sayang, it's not our culture. I once told my dad about my intention to do so but he said "We can't fix what people would want to buy for our wedding. Suka hati orang tu la nak bagi u apa." Ok. Say no more kalau tak my dad will blab about it the whole of my adult life.

So, ok. Back to my husband.

I think he's super cute and nice when he bought me this just now:

Pink RIDER slip-on

And those are the most expensive slippers I've ever had. I mean slippers, not shoes ok. I would not pay RM50++ for just slippers! The reason being why he gave me those is simple; "I kesian tgk slipper u Bata yg u pakai masa u pregnant dulu".

That's why I love En. Omar.

Iqbal turns ONE

Alhamdulillah.

My prayer goes to Allah the Almighty for giving me and my family rezeki. My baby boy has turned one last 12th February. We did as planned. A birthday bash for him. It was fun but the weather that day was very very HOT. That was the day when the mother nature decided to make the earth warmer than ever. Seriously.

It was held at my parents'. Most of my relatives came, my cousins especially. Not forgetting those who refuse to come, the PJ-yian. I heard they went somewhere, I don't givva damn. Nak datang, datang la. Taknak datang, sudah. Maybe I shouldn't talk about it coz it'll spoil my entry. So let me strike through. Owh. But I don't know how to do that. Nevermind.

The kids had fun on that day. I've organised some games and prepared few presents for the winners. I was the MC on that day. My friends said I can be an MC for kiddies parties. Yeah rite LOL

When I first planned the party, I told myself to get a cake with no. 1 shape. Just like what Ibu got for me during my first birthday party. I still remember how it looked like. I saw it on my childhood photo album. The cake is huge. Like super huge, with chocolate rice all over the border. It was a butter cream cake and it had cherries on top of it.

I told the cake maker to make it exactly like what I had when I was one, only this time with edible The Wonder Pets image on top of it. It turned out to be okayyy but instead of choc rice on the border, the cake maker put choc studs made of butter cream. I guess it's probably the modern version of choc rice kot... Nevertheless, it tasted good. It was strawberry sandwich with choc butter cream. How cool is that?

The No. 1 Cake

Iqbal? Well well what can I say. He was cranky and moody all day long!

Last entry for 2009

Yeah. I know. I know. It’s been three million years since my last entry. I’ve loads of things to do – in the office and also at home. Plus I have no idea on what to blog about.

Oh. I’m planning for Iqbal’s first birthday party in February. I don’t intend to invite so many people, just my office mates and few close friends since we’ll be having cukur jambul ceremony in the morning and then lunch and then Iqbal’s party. The cukur jambul is for our newly born niece, Aqeelah Natasha. I have two nieces now!

2009 has come to the end. I’ve been through another wonderful journey in my life – motherhood. I pray to Allah for His blessings and may I be a good mother for the rest of my life.

Not the time, yet

Since we got married, we stay in our flat which my husband bought few years ago. Thinking how small the house is and my detestation towards the environment, I managed to influence my husband to find for another place.

It all started when we visited friends who have bought their own house which are nice and urm ok, nice. I started to think perhaps we should make our move.

We were searching for the right one - the price, area, land type, location etc. I found few interesting ones but they seem to have something missing. Be it the pricing, the soil type or size of the house, there would be at least one thing which turns me off.

Somewhere along the way, I had a lil conversation with a friend:-

K: I heard you're looking for a new house.
E: Yup. Looking for a landed one but not more than *00k.
K: Tunggu la. You're still young. Even I bought my house pun when I'm reaching 40.
E: U-huh?
K: U nak ke beli rumah sekarang where u can actually find better ones in the future, just wait for your EPF to double up. Probably that time you would work in some other places. And you would regret for buying a house far from work.
E: Urmm...
K: Just think about it ok. The time will come. Of course everyone wants a nice house, landed property but it's ok to live in where you are now. After all it's your own house. Jangan terburu-buru...
E: Ya lah. You're right.

I went back later that evening and had a long chat with my husband. He agreed every bit. He said we should be thankful that the house is not rented and although it's small, it's easier to manage. We'll go as planned, to refurbish it by end of the year coz we'll probably going to hang in there for at least 5 years before buying another crib.

Later that night I scrubbed the kitchen, wipe the windows and do whatever I could before heading to bed.

Good night my mouse house. I'll be with you until the time sets our separation.

Reminiscing Europe

It has been four years since my last trip overseas. It was a trip to Europe, three cities in three different countries were visited during the journey.

Valencia

I can never forget this city. It's so mesmerizing and wonderful. If I were given a chance to choose where to live, I would definitely pick Valencia. Good friends, great food and much love are the reasons to adore this place.

London

Everybody loves London! To me, this is a fun city. So many things to explore and sightseeing is a must. The people are nice too.

And lastly, j'adore Paris.

Paris

Paris is another wonderful city. Lively and so romantic. The only missing element is the friendliness of the French! I didn't get the chance to tour Paris thoroughly, but being there and seeing things that can never been seen anywhere was an experience I can never forget.

I miss traveling :(
